My first race of 2013 is complete! Yep, that’s right, Tinkerbell Half is in the books! Overall it was fun, would I do it again? I’m not so sure. It was really cool to run through the park early morning (a lil too early even for this super early riser) and see all the characters along the beginning of the course. The middle miles on the streets of Anaheim, ehhh? Not so thrilling. Let me make it clear, Disney did a great job, on time start, great course support, awesome volunteers, hydration and fuel at the finish. With that said…
Wings and wands everywhere. I get it, dress up, it’s Disney have fun, but after a while running with thousands of people the majority of which had NO race etiquette, and parts of the course were narrow and dark, it became a lil draining, now add eye poking wings, over it.
I was beyond bummed when it sold out last year. So, I was SO excited to be able to do it, when they opened addition registration spots for Black Friday this year, but now that it’s over, I don’t know how I feel. It WAS EXPENSIVE. The medal is COOL! And the long sleeve tech shirt is nice, actually better than the Disney merch I saw at the expo, but I have some cool medals and cool shirts, for less than what this half cost. Oh yeah, the medal only changes every few years, so maybe when it changes again ill sign up. They get you on parking (unless you stay at one of their hotels or their affiliate hotels), you still have to pay for a ticket to the park (discounted) etc., etc…maybe when I check my virtual goodie bag, I’ll be slightly blown away? A girl can dream right. Thanks goodness it was only a fun training run for me.
I’m so bummed I didn’t see you. I mean, finding you in the 12,000 people should have been easy right?
When I finished I went back to the course to see the runners (around mile 5) and was shocked at just how crowded it was. Bummer you didn’t have a great experience 
I KNOW right?! Only a few runners, haha! Oh my god there were SO many people!!! WOW! I wasn’t even able to get in my corral, lol. How are you feeling?? Better I hope! Did you and the fellas go to the park?How was the run for you? I think it be a different experience if you’re a speedster (like you!), prob not as crowded, and less of a wait to take pics with the characters. Super cool that you got to go to that meetup, that looked FUN! So what’s next for you? We’re actually gonna meet this year, watch! ;p
Yea luckily I was feeling better by then…and no I used my banked time to spend it in the bathroom instead of the characters
